Turntable Tuesday! Tommy Emmanuel CGP “Imagine”

It’s Turntable Tuesday because life is too short not to listen to great music! Turn that TV off! It’s springtime and the temperatures are coming up fast! Not only is the promise of warmth and renewal here but all it takes is a little LOUD music on your local speaker to help those plants pollinate! Let’s help mother nature celebrate the annual plant fornication with some smiles, a few stories, and off-the-meter music!

It’s what is on the piano stool this week for Turntable Tuesday. A very special 7 inch 45 RPM autographed copy by Tommy Emmanuel who is one of only five of the world’s “Certified Guitar Players.” If you ever are fortunate to see Tommy play in person or even on You Tube you will understand why this designation is a great one. Tommy is a very special person and one so very deserving of this title. For the John Lennon fan what do you think of this catalog number 9? It’s all in the details…that is a photo of the vinyl B side of pressing number 536 that resides in my collection. It is the details that make all the vinyl crowd happy. You can’t get this stuff in a download. “Just sayin.’
Strawberry Fields in Central Park West in New York City. I have lost track of the times I have been to this place but I always want to go back for a few minutes when I am in town just to enjoy the moment of physically being there. This record reminds me of this image and feeling.
Side A “Imagine” You can really feel it.
Tommy explains the song on Side B of this special record. ‘Since We Met.”

On the podcast this week I’ll talk about this record and some of the thoughts that the music of Tommy Emmanuel beings to mind. It is stunning. The percussion, the bass, the harmonics, the rhythm, the amazing solos, the man plays two parts at once on a guitar…

I will say this here in case you can’t listen to this episode. I am vibe kind of person who can feel the personality and spirit of a person when they are in the room with me. Tommy Emmanuel is a gifted musician but most of all he radiates pure joy. Tommy only stops smiling when he is concentrating on the complexity of his playing. It is a real treat to be in the same room with this artist. I can’t wait until the next time I get to see another amazing Tommy Emmanuel performance. The pandemic of 2020 has slowed regular touring temporarily but not for much longer.

Tune in this week to the podcast as the topics are the career of Tommy Emmanuel, Maton Guitars of Box Hill, Melborne, Australia, the vinyl recording, and Strawberry Fields in New York City. It is all on the podcast.

Until next time I’ll see you. Down the road.
