About Andrew Talbert

Andrew Talbert

Hi, I’m Andrew Talbert. I am a North Carolina native who grew up all over the southeast spending many of my childhood years in Mississippi. I spend a lot of time traveling to live music shows all over the country. I have always had a passion for radio, music, and concert photography from a very young age.  When you see my photo collection you can see the tip of the iceberg from my many years of watching concerts through a camera lens. I have used everything from a cardboard throw-away camera to a state of the art Nikon digital SLR over time to capture photos. Many of my pictures come from my collection of pocket cameras with my current preference being several compact and powerful Sony G series cameras as well as my iPhone camera.

I continue to work at my passion by attending as many live concerts as I can and writing a few stories to capture my thoughts from the performance. I am also expanding my blog to talk about music topics in general. I just launched a podcast called “My Passionate Musical Journey” to talk about many things music including vinyl albums and artist interviews from the entire spectrum of music topics.  I want to bring you some interviews you may otherwise not have access to in other ways and just talk about music from my experiences from decades of live music and what is going on currently when possible. Just last week I launched my new podcast theme song written by Nashville singer-songwriter Will Kimbrough and recorded by the Red Dirt Boys who back Emmy Lou Harris on tour. This new album is releasing in late 2021. Will wrote this song in October of 2020 after a discussion we had via phone and email. I had no idea it would find a place on a recording but I am very happy it did. The song is called “I Got a Passion for It.” I will leave the rest of the interpretation up to you. Be sure to get yourself a copy of this new album “The Real Deal” when it releases. It is amazing. The CDs are starting to release now and the vinyl should be available in December of 2021. I will definitely cover the album release when the vinyl ships.

All of this media helps me remember what I have seen as I go through time. My life almost seems like a blur at times given how busy I have been and yes that was intentional. I live every day like it is my last.

The Down South Radio Hour was what I called my radio show during my several year stand on Radiomargaritaville. I produced a one hour show that eventually found it’s way to a weekly slot until Sirius XM took the channel to satellite radio. Even today Radiomargaritaville still broadcasts on the internet to people around the world. I stepped away from that seat after producing over 60 shows within a three year period. They were an absolute labor of love with many shows taking six hours of production time for a one hour show. The technology was very different even 17 years ago. Yes it was. That old blog still exists over on downsouthradiohour.blogspot.com and most of the old content got migrated over here quite a few years ago.

Radio programing is something I really enjoy and I miss the creative aspect of working on music projects and talking to people about music via interviews. Now I am going to take my projects to my own public domain podcast and ultimately a video channel. I see some work ahead that will not really be work as I love creating things and talking to people about their gifts and sharing that with others of similar interests.

I will continue to work on music projects as I have for many years in many aspects. I gave up my volunteer “A team” production role at Merlefest almost a decade ago to work constantly on another not for profit music event in Key West which benefits local charities called “PHiP’s Meeting of the Minds.” I managed this event as the director for nine years and have now moved on to other music-related projects.

Tune into my blog for future posts and I hope you tune into my FREE podcasts as they arrive. I want to bring you some interesting topics from the music world and then some. I have lots of ideas for the future and he only thing that will slow me down is my travel schedule to attend concerts and music festivals. See ya out there.

Until next time, I’ll see you, down the road.
