Mike Campbell. The guitar player from the Heartbreakers as in Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and also as in the last iteration of the Fleetwood Mac touring band. He has had a side band for the last twelve years. They call themselves the ‘Dirty Knobs.” Yeah they are good. Damn good.

Mike Campbell formed the Dirty Knobs 15 years ago, but they have never gigged outside of Los Angeles or released an album. In addition to Mike Campbell, the group features singer-guitarist Jason Sinay, bassist Lance Morrison, and drummer Matt Laug. “Wreckless Abandon” features contributions from Chris Stapleton and Heartbreakers keyboardist Benmont Tench. This album was due to be released in March of 2020 followed by a tour of standing room only shows in some incredible small venues across the country. Then….the virus. The damn virus. There were even a few stadium shows planned with Chris Stapleton. Can you image being five feet from this band with the amps cranked up? I had tickets to two different shows in two states. The tour was pushed back from early 2020 to late 2020 and then again into 2021. Now that many of the shows are on the calendar for 2021 given the demands on Mike Campbell to tour and record one can only hope those dates hold. I still have my tickets. I plan to be there on the front row.
Last Friday night The Dirty Knobs played a release party for this album on a stream from the famous Troubadour. All donations and items sold online will help support the National Independent Venue Association. You can still view that stream for the next few days so go check it out and donate a few dollars if you can. Our independent venues are trying to survive until we can get back out there soon. Every dollar helps!
