Walter Becker. One of the Masterminds behind Steely Dan.

Walter Becker

http://walterbecker.com  I am not sure what I could add about Walter Becker that has not already been written. I just wanted to share the photo I took at the recent Raleigh, North Carolina show during the Steely Dan show. I have been a fan for many decades actually since the very beginning. I remember watching “The Midnight Special” on TV and seeing the first Steely Dan hit “Reeling in the Years.” I was living in Mississippi at the time. I was an instant fan. As the years progressed I can remember the first thing I did in college in the early 1980’s was purchase the entry-level Bose 301 speakers. The very first album I played was a Steely Dan record to check the high frequencies. I love the fidelity of the Steely Dan recordings and the awesome stage sound when this band plays live. There really is only one “Steely Dan.”

You will have to click the link to play it…thanks You Tube:

Your everlasting summer
You can see it fading fast
So you grab a piece of something
That you think is gonna last
You wouldn’t know a diamond
If you held it in your hand
The things you think are precious
I can’t understand
Are you reelin’ in the years
Stowin’ away the time
Are you gatherin’ up the tears
Have you had enough of mine
You been tellin’ me you’re a genius
Since you were seventeen
In all the time I’ve known you
I still don’t know what you mean
The weekend at the college
Didn’t turn out like you planned
The things that pass for knowledge
I can’t understand
I spend a lot of money
And I spent a lot of time
The trip we made in Hollywood
Is etched upon my mind
After all the things we’ve done and seen
You find another man
The things you think are useless
I can’t understand
