Living in A Ghost Town…on Turntable Tuesday!

It’s Turntable Tuesday because life is too short not to listen to great music! Tonight I am opening a brand new copy of a brand new vinyl track ‘Living In A Ghost Town’ by the Rolling Stones. This song was recorded in Los Angeles and London in 2019 and finished in Paris in 2020 in isolation!

This is another post documenting the moment as we live through something no one has ever seen in this lifetime…a global virus pandemic.

Mick Jagger said that he wrote the song over a year ago with lead guitarist Keith Richards in about 10 minutes. “It wasn’t written for now, but it was just one of those odd things,” he said.

This song does have that sleaze appeal the Stones are known for. It has been widely reported that it was not written for this time but it was adapted to the current situation which is just fine for most of us Stones fans. We will take new material when we can get it and current events are always a good medium for providing new art.

It is still a shame I missed the Stones show I was holding a ticket for a week ago but the virus took care of postponing that show and many other live music experiences this year. I guess the positive side of all of this is I am working very hard at catching up on my writing and photography backlog from over two years at this point. This web site re-design is underway as well and coming soon…this current code is showing some age and errors at this point. Some online beauty is coming real soon. I went to bed last night working on it and woke up thinking about it. I have an awesome resource working on the revamp! I’ll tell you all about that in a future post.

Remember to continue to support your favorite artists through streaming tips or buying their art. Don’t stream it PAY FOR IT! Buy hard copies for gifts. Keep the arts alive. There will be a backside to this storm and art will keep us all sustained now and then. See ya down the road.

Living In A Ghost Town (Remix) The Rolling Stones 2020

Whoa, oh, whoa, oh I’m a ghost
Living in a ghost town
I’m a ghost
Living in a ghost town

You can look for me
But I can’t be found
You can search for me
I had to go underground
Life was so beautiful
Then we all got locked down
Feel a like ghost
Living in a ghost town, yeah

Once this place was humming
And the air was full of drumming
The sound of cymbals crashing
Glasses were all smashing
Trumpets were all screaming
Saxophones were blaring
Nobody was caring if it’s day or night

Whoa, oh, whoa, oh I’m a ghost
Living in a ghost town
I’m going nowhere
Shut up all alone So much time to lose
Just staring at my phone

Every night I am dreaming
That you’ll come and creep in my bed
Please let this be over
Not stuck in a world without end Whoa, oh, whoa, oh
Whoa, oh, whoa, oh, oh…

Preachers were all preaching
Charities beseeching
Politicians dealing
Thieves were happy stealing
Widows were all weeping
There’s no beds for us to sleep in
Always had the feeling
It will all come tumbling down I’m a ghost
Living in a ghost town
You can look for me
But I can’t be found Whoa, oh
